Gamification: Get Your Game On!

Gamification: Get Your Game On!

Have you implemented gamification in your recruiting process?  If you’re not familiar, Gamification is the use of game mechanics and game design techniques in non-game contexts.

The idea of using gamification is, like social media, another way to connect with top talent.  With the increasing trend to use games to attract customers, increase branding, train employees and now recruit talent, many companies are investing top dollars to create their own online gaming experience.  What’s the most important part about gamification besides whittling away towards the best candidates?  Engagement.   Keeping a candidate engaged in the game will net companies greater rewards.

Creating personalized games are great for larger companies, but what about smaller ones?  What types of solutions are out there?  For starters, Facebook has a host of gamification apps that companies can use to engage their fans.  Mashable wrote a post about it here on some tips on how to do that.  Also, check out 3 Gamification-Lite Examples You Can Pull Off (Today) – another simple way to use it in your everyday practice.

Gamification is one of the fastest growing trends and from some the stats out there like Gartner Group’s Brian Burke forecasts that 70 percent of the Global 2000 will employ gamification techniques.  These numbers are rapidly climbing.   Plan on more apps to be created in the future that will allow smaller companies to bring their own game to the recruiting table.
